Heather Caulfield
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Heather Caulfield is a soulful, creative visionary—an Artist, Art Director, Teacher, Author, Designer, and Editor whose lifelong relationship with art began at the age of eight. She studied traditional oil painting methods in Detroit, Michigan, under the late painter Nancy Prophet, laying a strong classical foundation that continues through her work today.
Heather earned a full-tuition scholarship to pursue her BFA at the Columbus College of Art & Design. She later studied intensively with master painters, including the late, revered portrait artist Nelson Shanks at Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and legendary album and poster artist, Master Stanley Mouse in Sonoma County, California.
Her work has been exhibited in galleries across the United States, and she has painted live at numerous festivals and events. Heather was also a live painter in Ser La Muse, a Northern California variety show featuring live painters, belly dancers, musicians, and performance artists, creating immersive, multisensory experiences.
In addition to her fine art practice, Heather has designed images and logos for a wide range of clients, including licensed graphics for the Grateful Dead, promotional flyers for music events, and screen-printed designs for design houses, bands, Events, festivals, and clothing companies.
Heather has taught art to students of all ages, including classes at the Dayton Art Institute in Dayton, Ohio, as well as private painting and drawing lessons from her personal studio. She is currently a resident artist at Bob Marley’s "Marley Natural" dispensaries in St. Thomas and St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, and is writing and illustrating a series of children’s books.
As a mother to a budding artist, Heather continues her own studies while reconnecting with her ancestral roots—honoring a lifelong, ever-evolving creative journey.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My name is Heather Caulfield. I am a soulful, creative visionary—Fine Artist, Art Director, Teacher, Author, Designer, and Editor. I have painted for as long as I can remember; art has always been a close companion and intuitive messenger in my life.
My paintings often speak to me—sometimes years later—delivering messages that remind me of the ancient nature of all souls. My love of the Renaissance era led me to study masters such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and many other classical painters. Their influence shaped my traditional approach to painting techniques, as well as my devotion to figurative work and portraiture.
I have been fortunate to study with remarkable painters in their personal studios, learning the “magic” of their craft and the subtle language of the trade. Now, as a mother to a budding artist, we explore creative expression together in deeply meaningful ways.
I am a spiritual dreamer—an infinite conduit who downloads and documents imagery, emotion, and energy. I am a lover of nature, whimsy, and all things mysterious. An experiencer of mystical moments, I translate what I witness into visual language for the collective, honoring the magic that exists all around us.
I am a forever student and observer of creation—seeking universal truths, sacred forms, divine structures, and timeless design. A Neptunian painter of innate emotion, I strive to mirror the soul’s essence in my portraits and offer a reflection of one’s being on canvas.
