I spent the day there with my friend and fellow painter, Michelle Carnes, for an outing of painting, wine tasting, and enjoying the beautiful California countryside. It was a gorgeous day, and the winery’s lavender gardens were alive with color. Rows of soft violet and purple lavender stretched across the landscape, divided by a warm, sunlit path leading toward the trees and rolling hills beyond. I was especially drawn to the contrast between the cool lavender, golden California light, and rich greens of the surrounding landscape. Painted outdoors alongside another artist, this piece holds the memory of creativity, beautiful surroundings, and one of those wonderful California days spent painting in the open air.
