Pacific Sunset – California Coast Landscape Canvas Print
Pacific Sunset was painted on location along the Sonoma Coast, on the beautiful stretch of coastline between Blind Beach and Goat Rock State Park in Northern California.
My friend Barb Chigounis, a muralist, artist, and teacher, came out to California to visit me, and we spent an unforgettable week creating art together, including paintings for Burning Man. One evening, we took our paints to the beach to capture the sunset over the Pacific.
The sky glowed with warm gold and soft blue as the last light reflected across the waves and wet sand. Dark coastal rocks punctuated the brilliant water while the setting sun cast a shimmering path of light toward the shore.
We had so much fun painting together that week, and this piece still carries a physical memory of that evening. While I was painting on the beach, sand accidentally found its way into the wet paint and became embedded in the original painting. I loved the unexpected texture and the way a little piece of the beach had literally become part of the artwork, so I left it there.
Originally painted in oil by Heather Caulfield, Pacific Sunset is reproduced as a fine art canvas print celebrating the light, color, and wild beauty of California’s Sonoma Coast.
