Russian River Vineyard – Sonoma County California Landscape Canvas Print Russian River Vineyard was inspired by a view I discovered while driving through Sonoma County, California, not far from Guerneville and heading north toward Healdsburg. I lived in Guerneville for about six years and came to know and love the surrounding Russian River countryside. One day, while driving along an old rural road near the Russian River Vineyards property, I caught sight of the vineyard beyond the long fence bordering the property. There wasn't really anywhere to pull off the road, but the view caught my attention enough that I stopped briefly to take a photograph. I was especially drawn to the way the vines stretched across the landscape, creating beautiful patterns of color and rhythm beneath the trees. When I returned home, I painted the scene from my photograph while the impression of the landscape was still fresh in my mind. The painting captures one of those quiet, easily missed views found along the back roads of Northern California: rows of vines, sunlit grasses, and trees spreading across the rolling landscape.
